The Advantages of Florida Flight Training

airlink Articles

Ever since the dawn of time, humankind has had a natural, innate curiosity about flying. The ability to take to the skies has completely transformed our relationship with the world around us, and for many of us, getting our pilot’s license is the next step in exploring the airspace above us.

However, with so many options out there as to where you can undergo flight training, it can be very easy to get overwhelmed by your choices. If you’ve been considering getting your pilot’s license, and you want to take flight training coursework, then there’s no better place to do it than in Florida. From the broad, flat expense beneath us to the bright, clear sky above us, very few places compare to the Sunshine State when it comes to flight training. To help better break down the benefits of choosing Florida for your flight training, here are three points worth considering.

The Weather is Unmatched

One major consideration when trying to choose a place for your flight training is the weather in the location. While it’s definitely possible to learn to fly in inclement weather, it does increase the risk of incidents and uncomfortable flights. Because of this, it’s best to choose a place with good weather, free from fog, clouds, and storms. What better place, then, is there to choose for flight training than Florida? After all, Florida isn’t called the Sunshine State for nothing.

In fact, Florida boasts a staggering 237 sunny days per year, far more than the 205 that is the national average. This sunshine is also complemented by cloudless skies, fantastic weather, and a pleasant flight experience overall. Another important consideration is how much you’ll be able to partake in flying, too. Once you have your flight training completed, you may just want to stick around and enjoy flying in Florida all year ‘round!

Plenty of Space to Spread Out

Another important consideration when trying to decide where you want to get your flight training is how much room you’ll have to move around. Ultimately, trying to get your pilot’s license in a place with too much clutter in the sky can be distracting – as well as dangerous, too. That’s not to say Florida doesn’t have its own metropolitan areas, of course. But outside of the big cities of Tampa, Orlando, and Miami, we have seemingly endless stretches of flat terrain for you to enjoy.

Ample Airports to Choose From

Finally, one of the biggest considerations when trying to choose a place for your flight training is the access to airports. In other states, there simply aren’t as many airports from which you can choose. The last thing you want to have to worry about when trying to learn how to fly is the seemingly endless competition with other potential pilots for your chance to take to the sky. Crowded airports can be a serious downer, and nobody wants to spend half of their morning waiting in line for their chance to take-off.

Because Florida has so many airports (including public, private, and municipal), there will never be any concern about having access to a runway. Whenever you want to take to the skies, all you need to do is find your nearest favorite airport on the map, then make a beeline toward it. Even better, having access to a bounty of airports can also equate to better safety for yourself. While nobody ever wants to have to worry about making an emergency landing, it’s nice to know you have access to an airport here in Florida, no matter where you are.

Getting flight training in Florida is a smart decision, no matter how you look at it. With all the amazing weather we have, the expanse of uninterrupted sky above our heads, and more than enough airports to share, there’s no doubt this is the best place to get your training.
